You often have so many leftovers after Thanksgiving, and you are starting to prepare for the most beautiful time of year, Christmas. You don't want all those leftovers to go to waste so that you may have seen my Thanksgiving leftovers round-up, but I have wanted a shepherd's pie.
What is a Shepherds Pie?
The recipe has many variations, but the defining ingredients are meat, cooked in a gravy or sauce with onions and sometimes other vegetables, such as peas, celery, or carrots, and topped with a layer of mashed potato before it is baked. The pie is sometimes also topped with grated cheese to create a layer of melted cheese on top.
In cookbooks, the dish was a means of using leftover roasted meat of any kind, and the pie dish was lined on the sides and bottom with mashed potato, as well as having a mashed potato crust on top
Ingredients for a Thanksgiving leftovers ShepardsPie:
This is what gave me the inspiration to use some leftovers to make Shepard's pie. The leftover's you will need are the following:
- A Vegetable, I used green beans, but you can try others.
- Mashed potatoes
- Shredded Cheese
Only six ingredients that are all leftovers and can make a quick and easy meal be placed on the table within 30 minutes. It's great for that night that you have to make something quick and healthy. There are no real measurements because of its leftovers, so you can use what you have. It is so yummy!
