Homemade Irish Soda Bread

Ingredients
  

  • 4 c all-purpose flour
  • ¾ c white sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • ½ c butter at room temperature
  • 1 ½ c raisins
  • 2 tbsp caraway seeds
  • 1 ½ c buttermilk at room temperature
  • 3 eggs at room temperature

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees and grease a circular 9-inch cake pan.
  • Stir together the flour, sugar, salt, baking powder, and baking soda in a large bowl.
  • Cut the butter into pieces and add to the large bowl. Mix until well combined.
  • Add in the buttermilk and eggs. Mix until well combined.
  • Add in the raisins and caraway seeds. Then place the dough into the prepared cake pan.
  • Bake in an oven for 45 minutes to 60 minutes at 350 degrees until golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean.
  • Allow cooling on a wire rack for 10 minutes before removing it. Serve warm with Kerrygold butter.
